Our Family Histories

Here you will find family stories, essentially family histories, either put together by us or by another author. including:

  • One of the most famous, Karolina’s Story (Karolina Hess Dreifuss), written many years ago by our dad Leonard), documents the life and accomplishments of our paternal grandmother, against the backdrops of Jewish Emancipation in turn of the century Germany and then later in Nazi Germany. Originally posted on our first web page (Leonard and Sons) some 20 years ago, it received an award for best family history award by America Online, who hosted our page at that time.
  • Another incredible story documents the young life of our maternal emigrant grandmother, Chana Soro Charnalefski - The Girl From America.
  • Also here is The Gunzburgers, which discusses the family of our great grand aunt, Rosa Dreifuss Gunzburger and her husband Albert.
  • One family member of the Dreifuss family who distinguished himself in so many ways is our great great uncle Isaac Wolf Bernheim, whose story is given here. Much of the documentation of his life and times was provided by I. W. Bernheim himself.
  • Not least of all is a preliminary glimpse of chapters of a book underway from Jeff Dreifuss - tentatively named, Stories Never Shared. Our histories recorded here may be revised and expanded as additional data may be uncovered by us. We invite you to help us edit this. Contact us if you would like to be included.
